Charles Leclerc has urged Ferrari to continue pushing hard with development, insisting every upgrade could make a decisive difference in the 2026 Formula 1 championship battle.
Following a frustrating Hungarian Grand Prix, where Ferrari’s early pace failed to translate into a podium finish, Leclerc stressed that constant improvements are essential to keep up with rivals.
“Every upgrade is so much more significant than in the past because it makes us take such a big step forward. We’ve seen it with McLaren this weekend, so it’s important that we stay on top and keep being as aggressive as we have been,” said Leclerc.
The Monegasque also admitted Ferrari has struggled to understand its inconsistent performances, often exceeding expectations at difficult circuits while underperforming at tracks where the team expected to be competitive.
“There’s clearly a tendency where both cars perform well on weekends we expect to struggle, and struggle on weekends where we think we’ll be strong. That’s something we need to understand.”
Looking back on the Hungarian GP, Leclerc acknowledged that a poor start and inconsistent race pace ultimately cost Ferrari a stronger result.
“We paid the price at the start, but we weren’t particularly strong at any stage of the race. There were too many ups and downs, and that’s where we need to improve by finding more consistency with the car.”
With the championship battle intensifying, Leclerc believes Ferrari must maintain its aggressive development approach while improving consistency if it hopes to challenge for the title in the second half of the season.
